FUNERAL PLAN FAQS

A HFS Funeral Director will be able to answer any questions you may have about pre-paid funeral plans. We have also put together some answers to the most frequently asked questions below to help you.

A funeral plan allows you to arrange and pay for your funeral in advance of need, providing emotional and financial peace of mind for you and your family.

A Perfect Choice Funeral Plan can be arranged at A Monger or in the comfort of your own home by prior appointment.

The Perfect Choice Funeral Plan is available to anyone aged 18 and over. You can arrange a funeral plan for yourself or on behalf of a partner, relative or friend.

No, there are no medical questions and there is no medical required when applying for a Perfect Choice Funeral Plan, whether or not you have any existing medical conditions.

The cost of a funeral plan will depend on the options you choose, for example, the type of coffin and funeral vehicles, or if you require flowers, stationery or memorials. We can supply you with a free no obligation quotation detailing all of these costs.

A Perfect Choice Funeral Plan guarantees to provide the exact funeral services paid for with no hidden charges or conditions. Whether the funeral takes place in 5 or 50 years time, there will be nothing left to pay, covering all costs including any disbursements.

The Perfect Funeral Plan does not cover funerals that take place aboard. If you plan to go abroad, you should ensure that your travel or medical insurance policy includes full cover for repatriation costs. Once repatriated to the UK, the funeral plan can then be used to arrange the funeral as normal.

Payment for a Perfect Choice Funeral Plan can be made using a credit or debit card as a one off payment or in regular monthly instalments from 12 – 60 months. Instalments over 24 months will incur an additional instalment charge.

In the event of payments lapsing through death, the guaranteed price for the service remains but the outstanding balance must be paid before the funeral can take place.

It is important to let the next of kin or executor know that you have arranged a Perfect Choice Funeral Plan and where the funeral plan certificate can be found. At the time of need, they must contact your chosen Funeral Director who will organise the funeral arrangements specified in the funeral plan.

You can add special wishes and requests such as song choices, readings, information for a eulogy and so on. There is no charge to add these details. There may be more to pay if you require additional features, services or upgrades.

Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time. If you choose to cancel the plan up to 30 days from the date of purchase you’ll receive a full refund. If you cancel the plan after 30 days, you’ll receive a refund of the original amount paid, excluding the management fee.

Yes, you can make changes to your plan after you have taken it out. Just let us know what you wish to change. There may be an additional cost if you add new features and services to your plan.

After deducting the plan management fee the full funeral pre-payment is held securely in a whole of life assurance policy with a UK-based life assurance company that is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and regulated by the PRA and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The funds are ring-fenced to pay for your funeral when the time comes. The funds cannot be used for anything other than your funeral and are immediately available to your funeral director when the funeral is required.
